A scenario for Lion Rampant
MAA = 1 base (strength 6)
Bills / Archers = 2 bases (strength 12)
Orders of Battle
Lancastrian ~2,000 Duke
of Somerset, Earl of Northumberland, Lord Clifford
Henry VI (Light Infantry)
3 x
MAA
3 x Archers
2 x Bills
Yorkist ~3,000 Duke of York, Earl of Warwick, Earl of
Salisbury
3 x MAA
5 x Archers
5 x Bills
Terrain
The Ditch and Bank is an
obstacle. It cannot be defended as it is too tall and there is no step
Only
Warwick’s battle may cross the ditch.
The battles under Salisbury and York may
only cross at the Bars.
The Bars are an obstacle and provide cover to defenders
Buildings are difficult terrain (Half speed and provide cover)
Objectives
The
Yorkists must take control of the town centre and wound the King. The
Lancastrians aim to prevent this.
Deployment
Lancastrian
Lord Clifford –
defending the Bar on Sopwell Lane
Earl of Northumberland – defending the Bar on
Shropshire Lane
Duke of Somerset – in the town centre
King Henry VI – in the
town centre
Yorkist
Duke of York – attacking the Bar on Sopwell Lane
Earl of
Salisbury – attacking the Bar on Shropshire Lane
Earl of Warwick – in reserve
between the two lanes
Special Rules
The King
King Henry Vi is represented by a
single element. It is treated as Light Infantry (i.e. has an Armour of 2) but
does not fight and cannot move except to retreat to the Abbey as described
below. If a hit is sustained by the element then the King has been wounded and
the element must retreat towards the Abbey.
Line Replacement
A unit may
interpenetrate a friendly unit facing in the same direction either front to back
or back to front.
Flank and Rear Attacks
A unit that is attacked in the flank or
rear has a -1 modifier to its Armour value.
Battle Cohesion
As far as possible
each unit in a battle should remain within one move of another unit in the same
battle.
Leaders
A unit that has a Leader with it must roll for a potential
Leader Hit when a hit is sustained (double 1).
Warwick’s Attack
At the start of
each Yorkist turn, roll 1D6 and add the score to a running total. When the
cumulative total reaches 15 or if a Yorkist unit enters the town limits via one
of the bars (whichever comes first) the Warwick’s battle may start crossing the
ditch and entering the town. Warwick’s battle may not attack the units defending
the Bars due to distance, visibility and lack of local geographical knowledge.
Gabriel
When an attack against a Lancastrian unit occurs within the town centre
then the bell Gabriel is sounded and the Lancastrian units at the Bars may begin
moving back towards the town centre. Note: they cannot react before due to
distance and visibility across the town backs – they are too busy defending the
Bars.
