One of those "eureka" moments - cage bird sanded sheets for roads!
I will now build a town with ditch and palisade similar to the motte and bailey.
Started building a ditch and palisade camp (cocktail sticks and air drying clay).
Two ditch and palisade camps completed. Air drying clay is useful but SHRINKS.
Yet another victory for the Carinthians (Caroliginian Franks) in Aristia.
Finally decided to use Colour Party olive green for the water in the river sections + 3 layers of varnish. In the right light you will get the “sky reflection”. Otherwise a little sparkle along the edge. Most rivers I have looked at recently seem to be a sort of muddy green colour.
Painted up some extra Viking figures to make them 4Bd rather than 3Bd. Found enough spare figures to put together a Pre Feudal Scots army and painted them. The saltire cross on the banner is a little late for the 11th century, but poetic license here! - I wanted to make them obviously Scottish. It's the army of Macbeth and Malcolm Canmore.
Played a Wars of the Roses game using DBA 2.0. Was good and I have made notes so that it can be the first battle of a WOTR “piston” campaign.
Bought two piles of boxes, barrels etc. at Walthamstow. Painted them up to use along with the “jousting” tents as camps for the WOTR or Dutch Rebellion.
Started making up the Woodland Scenics trees I bought at Walthamstow. They are very nice, quite realistic and at £10.50 for 14 reasonably cheap (works out at 75p each). They are a lot easier to do than the pipe cleaner trees.
Bought a German 37mm anti-aircraft gun for the Rapid Fire army.
The best LRDG Chevrolet trucks I can find now that Matchbox kits are no longer available are by Britannia Models at £6-50 each...
Made some storage boxes for Rapid Fire forces. Much better and now David knows which box to put each model in. Only problem is I've run out of card...
